A few weeks ago I had the honor to be featured on a blog that is near and dear to my heart, The {Well} Studio. The Well {Women Entrepreneurs Loving the Lord} is a place for women entrepreneurs and creatives alike to come together to encourage and inspire one another. It was co-founded by the super talented Kelly Rucker.  I met Kelly a few years ago when God strategically place her in my path (at The Village Church bible study) at a very critical time in my life.  Little did she know at the time that she was a beacon of hope to me and a bright shining light of encouragement from day one! (Thanks Kelly!!!) She continues to encourage women through her blog, and frankly just being exactly who God made her to be!

When she asked me to be apart of their Workspace Wednesday, I couldn't have been more thrilled to be included with such an incredible group of women. I obviously said YES!!…and quickly started cleaning up my studio

So without further adieu, I introduce to you my studio and a little piece of my heart!

Liz Larsen + Accessory Jane

Liz Larsen is the founder of Accessory Jane, an online fashion accessory boutique. Why did you start your business?

I come from a family of entrepreneurs. I always knew I wanted to start my own business, but never really quite had the courage to do so until I found myself to be a single mom. I knew I wanted to stay home with my daughter, and I was determined to find a way. Call it the fighter in me. After much encouragement from my friends and family to finally pursue this dream, I started Accessory Jane and handed it over to the Lord.

What keeps you motivated?

My faith and my family. In owning your own business, you quickly learn just how much you’re not in control. It’s a continual process of handing your work over to God and trusting Him with it. My daughter, Olive, is another huge motivating factor. I want to teach her what it means to be a hard worker, pursue your dreams and to trust in God’s provision.

What is your biggest challenge?

Balance! Balance in giving Accessory Jane my best, but not giving Accessory Jane all of me. Remembering that God also made me a mom. I am a business owner and a mom and both of those are very important, time demanding things.

What is your greatest reward?

Hands down, the greatest reward has been seeing just how many opportunities God has opened up through Accessory Jane. It has given me the ability to stay at home with Olive, connect with hundreds of women from all over the world, and share my faith through the gift of social media.

Why is your faith so important in running your business and in your daily life?

My faith is everything. It is why I do what I do. Without Him in the picture, it’s all meaningless. I need Jesus in every aspect of my life, because he is the one who gives me life.

How do you stay organized?

That is a great question that I ask myself on an almost daily basis. I used to think of myself as an organized person (and really I still think I am), but when you are moving as much inventory as we do for our weekly sales, things can get a bit messy. An app called Soldsie has been a life saver for us. It helps us keep track of all our invoices and inventory.

What office product can you not live without?

My MacBook Pro and My planner! Since my business is online, I do almost everything from my MacBook, and I definitely can’t forget my planner. I live off of to-do lists! I know the importance of making sure everything it’s done, so to ensure that I write it down!

What software can you not live without?

Lightroom (or iphoto). Since we are selling our products from our pictures, it’s imperative that the picture look great. I have recently switched over to Lightroom and instantly fell in love.

What apps make your life easier?

VSCO! By far the best photo app out there! Sometimes I even prefer my VSCO edits over my Nikon and Lightroom edits.

When designing your office where did you get your inspiration?

Pinterest! Like everyone else, I’ve always loved browsing the endless design possibilities. I first found our rug and built the rest of the room around that.  The color scheme developed using the colors we’ve selected for our website as an inspiration. Storage is another big consideration.  The vintage office credenza is perfect, lots of storage and great spot to stack the cubbies.
